Five water company WRMPs get government approval

Defra has given five of the WRSE water companies – Affinity Water, Portsmouth Water, SES Water, South East Water and Thames Water – permission to publish their final Water Resources Management Plans (WRMPs). These companies will now finalise their plans and publish them by 18 October 2024.

Southern Water will launch a consultation on its revised draft WRMP in September. Following this, its WRMP will be updated and submitted to Defra for approval in 2025.

The company WRMPs have been derived from WRSE’s revised draft regional plan which was published in August 2023. WRSE will update and finalise the regional plan once all the company WRMPs have been finalised.

The final plan will reflect any changes that have been made to the company WRMPs following Defra’s feedback and the update to Southern Water’s plan following its consultation.
